Humanity will do everything just to survive. I think it is not something that I need to explain too much. How really wants to die right? I mean, who wants to lose especially when it comes to the extinction of your very race. NGE tackled everything about that and that made the original anime series the best mecha series for the mid-90s era by most of international and local Japanese critics.
Obviously, Neon Genesis Evangelion falls under mecha and post-apocalyptic genre but at the same time it is a psychological sci-fi as well. Shinji Ikari is a coward indeed but he still managed to overcome his fear that a normal human can’t. A fresh pilot to jump onto a battle without knowing a single stuff is already called a suicide. That very episode when Ikari took his first battle is a heart-stopping episode for me.
Epic is so for Neon Genesis Evangelion. We can’t change that fact anymore. After finishing the first season of the anime series, I skipped the movies but bought a whole series of Evangelion mecha-figures. Now you can imagine how crazy I am when it comes to the toys of anime series.
The last episode of its season 1 was pretty much the end of the saga. I think it is all over there. A season 2 will not happen anymore even if I wish to. But thanks to Gainax and Tatsunoko production for creating an anime series like this. Also, to the director who made those screenplays very epic Hideaki Anno.
